Verification Privacy & Consent Notice
Last updated 3 October 2026
If an organisation has asked Verifisha to verify you, this notice explains what is happening before you continue. It is a short summary — our Privacy Policy has the full detail.
1. Who is asking
A Verifisha customer — for example an employer, lender, landlord, SACCO or platform — has requested a verification about you. The request screen names the organisation that asked and the checks they requested. That organisation decides why the check is needed; Verifisha carries it out for them.
2. What is being checked
Depending on the request, a verification may confirm your identity, business, financial, background or reference information. The request screen lists the specific checks before you continue.
3. Information we process
To carry out the verification we may process:
- identity and document details you provide or that are checked against authorised sources;
- contact details;
- a photo, selfie, short video or liveness check, where that method is used;
- information returned from authorised data sources; and
- records of your consent and of the verification itself.
4. Biometric checks (where used)
Some verifications include a selfie, a liveness check, or a comparison of your face against your ID. This is biometric-related and sensitive. It is used only to confirm your identity and help prevent fraud, and only where you agree. If a check does not use these methods, no biometric information is collected.
5. Third-party providers and processing outside Kenya
Verifisha works with third-party verification providers and data sources to carry out checks. Some of them may process your information outside Kenya; where that happens, we require an appropriate level of protection.
6. How long it is kept
Your information and the record of your consent are kept only as long as needed for the verification, to keep an auditable record, and to meet legal obligations. Sensitive material is kept for the minimum period necessary.
7. Your choice
Where a check relies on your consent, you can decline, and you can ask about or withdraw your consent afterwards. Declining may mean the organisation that asked cannot complete what it needed — that is their decision, not Verifisha’s. When you approve a request, your approval is recorded with a timestamp as evidence of consent.
8. Your rights and contact
You can ask to access, correct or delete your information, object to or restrict processing, or complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail, or contact us using the details on our contact page.
